Sewcial Day: Friday, Jan. 6th & Wednesday, Jan 18, 10:30am - 2:30pm

Sewcial Day is the perfect day to come hang out with us and your friends! Bring your sewing projects and use this time to get caught up without home distractions . Snacks will be available. Sign up is required due to limited space. Vanetta and Monique will be available for help and encouragement.

Celtic Square BOM: First Saturday of the month, January - June, 10:30am - 2:30pm 3 spots left

In this class, you will be able to create a dramatic quilt in the first 6 months of the year. You will have the summer and rest of the year to finish it up in time for a holiday gift. Using Foundation Paper Piecing makes this Celtic Square a breeze.  Not a fan of Foundation Paper Piecing? This is entirely appropriate for Freezer Paper Piecing- no ripping paper out later. Celtic Square is perfect for those who have had some practice with paper piecing. (If you are new to this technique, please sign up for our Beginner Potholder Class first.)  We will work on this quilt in 6 classes. The first four months will be dedicated to paper piecing the blocks. The last two will be dedicated to putting it all together and adding the spectacular mitered border.

Tuesday Table Runner: Tuesday, Jan. 10th, 10:30am - 2:30pm

Join Michelle the 2nd Tuesday of each month for her latest table runner class.  Each month she will have a new table runner or table mat pattern.  Some months there will be kits, others you use your own fabric.   All will be beautiful and will be great for your home or to use as gifts.

This month's table runner is perfect to use the month of February.  There is a limited number of kits available or just buy the pattern and choose your own fabric.

Technical Thursday: Thursday, Jan. 12th, 10:30am - 2:30pm Full

Do you have a project that you are stuck on?  Or one that you never started because the pattern is written in gibberish?  Or, do you just need some help? Then Technical Thursday is for you!  Michelle has the ability to decipher just about any pattern she has come across.   If the project that you need assistance with is not a pattern the shoppe sells please bring it in a few weeks ahead of time to give Michelle time to review.  Class size will be limited to four students to allow individual instruction.

Fabulous Strip Table Runner: Thursday, Jan 19th, 10:30am - 2:30pm

Do you have a favorite fabric that you’ve been saving?  Then this is the project for you!  The solid center strip in this table runner is the perfect way to show off a fabric that you love.  The runner is quick and fun to put together and shows us a very easy way to make perfect hourglass pieces.  Come join us and give that special fabric a piece that can really show it off.

Maxwell Bag: Friday, Jan. 20th, 10:30am - 3pm

The "Maxwell" Bag by Abbey Lane Quilts is large to hold the "big" projects! The handles are soft but sturdy and it has pockets on the outside and inside to hold all your extras. This bag has little purse feet on the bottom to protect it when you set it down. The pattern includes two versions, the Pieced version which incorporates 8 fun fabrics, or the one fabric version.

Take a Stand: Saturdays, Jan. 21st & 28th,  10:30am -2:30pm  One spot left

Stand-up totes in two sizes have an easy-to-install zippered top that opens wide for easy access to the contents.  Each Take A Stand tote features an adjustable, detachable carrying strap and plenty of room for supplies and more.   Two zippered pockets on the outside of the tote and two inner mesh pockets keep everything organized and easy to view. The SMALL stand-up tote measures 8-3/4in H x 12in W x 6-1/2in D. The LARGE stand-up tote measures 12-1/2in H x 16in W x 8in D.

My Kinda of Town: Fourth Wednesday of the month, January - December, 2pm - 5pm One spot left

This quilt is so much fun! Use your stash to create your own funky town. No two quilts will be the same, that’s for sure.  Not a fan of Foundation Paper Piecing? This is appropriate for Freezer Paper Piecing- no ripping paper out later.  My Kinda Town is perfect for those who have had some practice with paper piecing. We will work on this quilt in 12 classes. The first months will be dedicated to organizing the pattern and discussing strategy. Each month, the instructor will provide a cut list for the following month, as well as alerting students to errata in the pattern. There will also be lessons, as we go along, for dealing with odd angles and directional fabric. We will create the blocks for 8 months or so, and then we will put it all together.

Scrap club: Wednesday, Feb. 8th,  11am - 3pm

A monthly club for you to use those scraps making small projects.  The projects are from the book Little Handfulls of Scraps by Edita Sitar.

Beginning Foundation Paper Piecing: Wednesday, Feb. 8th, 4pm - 7pm
Perplexed by paper piecing? Join this beginner class! You will learn foundation paper piecing with this low-pressure project, designed specifically for The Village Quilt Shop. The instructor will provide the foundations in the class kit, included with your class fee. You bring your sewing supplies, and we will have a positively pleasant time paper piecing! You will leave with a finished block that you can finish as a potholder on your own.

Holiday Inn Retreat: Thursday - Sunday, Feb 16th - 19th There are still a few spots left

Do you need time away from home to sew? Do you like to sew with your friends? Then come to our  retreat. Join us Thursday - Sunday at the Holiday Inn on /holt Rd in Webster. If you want to spend the night they have a block of rooms reserved. There will be food, games and prizes. A great time. Space is limited, so sign-up now.

Running with Scissors: Saturdays, Feb. 18th & 25th,  10:30am -2:30pm

Intro to Wool: Thursday, Feb. 23rd , 10:30am -2:30pm
Have you been wanting to play with wool? We love wool here at the Village Quilt Shoppe and are always looking for new wool patterns and kits. In this class Michelle will teach you how to work with wool and some simple embroidery stitches. You will go home with a beautiful Needle Case. Kits are $18.99, and include the pattern and wool. There are only 6 kits available so sign up soon.
